]]>The last (4th) training of local authorities within the framework of BEWARE project took place in Dec 3-4, 2015. It was held in the venue of the regional center of Pomoravski Okrug in Jagodina, and we hereby thank to the authorities of the City of Jagodina, for providing the vanue and resources we used during the training. The training was held by Dr Biljana Abolmasov, Dr Miloš Marjanović, and Uroš Đurić, while the participants were as follows:
- Jagodina: Ivana Milojević, Bojana Milivojević
- Svilajnac: Saša Stojanović, Nemanja Gajić
- Smederevska Palanka: Jovan Zubac, Duško Milićević
- Paraćin: Nikola Jaćimović, Dragana Vasić
- Kladovo: Denis Stojković, Ljiljana Adamović
- Majdanpek: Vesna Cepenjor, Suzana Dudić
- Negotin: Goran Lepojević, Dragica Živković-Radonjić
On the first day, donated equipment (computer, tablet and navigation device) was officially handed-over to local representatives by central UNDP representatives together with UNDP Serbia, during which officials, Naoki Nihei and Žarko Petrović, addressed the audience. Operative part started with introduction to theoretical principles and demonstrative exercises that are considered necessary for realizing future BEWARE activities by participants. It lasted from 11 AM till 19 PM with several appropriate recesses.
The following day started with field training, and included visit to a particular location, pre-defined earlier during the field activites of BEWARE teams. It was a landslide in Gilje, near Jagodina, where participants practically learned the technique of recording a landslide on an instructive example. Therein, they were familiarized with basic functions of field equipment (tablet and navigation device) and learned to handle it. After the field work the participants had lunch together, where they continued discussions and socializing with instructors and among each-other.
All participants completed the training successfully.

Representative of the Ministry of mining and energetic of Republic of Serbia, Velizar Nikolić, also attended the training as a coordinator and supervisor. The first working day started by official hand-over of donated equipment (computer, tablet and navigation device) by UNDP Serbia officials. It was followed by operative part of the training wherein theoretical principles and demonstrative exercises were introduced. These are essential for realizing future BEWARE project objectives related to the duties of local authorities. It lasted from 11 AM through 18 PM with appropriate breaks.
The following day was reserved for field training part, which included reaching pre-defined location, appointed on the basis of the records of BEWARE teams. In particular, it involved two separate locations in Klinci in vicinity of Petnica, where participants learned the technical aspects of recording a landslide on a practical example, instructive enough for their future practice. Participants were familiarized with handling donated equipment (tablet and navigation device).
Participants used the opportunity to view the science center and its resources, in their spare time, as well as natural landmarks nearby, Petnica Cave in particular.
All participants successfully completed the training.
On the GIS day (18. November 2015), held on University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering, professor PhD Ranka Stanković, IT team leader, held a presentation of the project BEWARE.

The second of four trainings of the local authority delegates took place within the BEWARE project framework. Representatives of Kojserić, LJubovija, Mali Zvornik, Loznica, Krupanj took part, as well as Bajina Bašta which hosted the event. In working and friendly atmosphere theoretical and practical aspect of landslide-related topics re elaborated.

The latter involved a landslide in Crvice near Bajina Bašta, whereupon participants practiced their technical skills for successful landslide reporting, thereby simulating their future work. All participants passed the training with sufficient success.

The host, The City of Kraljevo, let their Civil Protection training center located in Rudno at disposal, thereby providing accommodation and training facilities. The training was performed by Assoc. Prof. Dr Biljana Abolmasov, Uroš Đurić, and Assis. Prof. Miloš Marjanović, while the participants were as follows:
- Kraljevo: Darko Rudnjanin and Zdravko Maksimović
- Trstenik: Miroljub Đorđević and Bratislav Antić
- Čačak: Rade Ćirković and Dragan Rapajić
- Kragujevac: Božana Stefanović and Isidora Obradović
- Varvarin: Jelena Milojković and Dragoš Beguš,
while unofficially and self-initiated Milić Radosavljević, a representative of Ćićevac, also took part at his own expense. The latter involved a landslide near Bogutovac, along the Ibar corridor whereupon participants practiced their technical skills for successful landslide reporting, thereby simulating their future work. ]]>BEWARE teams were welcomed by the mayor of the City of Jagodina, Ratko Stevanović on Oct 2nd 2015. Principal construction inspector, Branko Ilić, with his associates also participated in the meeting. They are the most familiar with the landslide problems throughout the territory of the city and were in charge of reporting and assessing landslide and flood damage during the 2014 events. Besides the general information about the project, collaboration with BEWARE teams was emphasized. Accordingly, the greatest attention during the field work was drawn to locations already prioritized by the local authorities. During the operative work, teams had support in logistics by local authority. Very significant source of information was data about historical landslides on territory Municipality of Jagodina, made by our colleague Marko Milošević, from the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade.
Next meeting was held on Oct 5th 2015, in Municipality of Varvarin. The meeting was hosted by the municipal president Bratislav Tošić and the members of the team in charge of assessing landslide and flood damage during the 2014 events, Dragoš Beguš and Katarina Milojković. With the logistic support of the hosts, our team has continued registerring last year landslides within the following two days. This Municipality has evidently suffered much greater damage to floods. Similar situation is in some parts of Jagodina, so the field work was mostly reduced to several site visits and field check of the satellite image analysis.
In Svilajnac, BEWARE teams were welcomed by the Chief of the municipality administration, Olivera Stanojević. The meeting was also attended by Aleksandar Stojanovic, head of the department for construction supervision, Branislav Vučičević and Nemanja Gajić. It was suggested that this municipality hosts the regional training of local authority delegates of Svilajnac and neighboring municipalities/cities when equipment donated by the Japanese Government will be presented and provided. In the course of further project activities the usual field campaign is planned, with the support of Nemanja Vučičević, and Branislav Gajić, who are familiar with the sites of interest.
BEWARE teams were welcomed by the mayor of the City of Čačak, Vojislav Ilić, in coordination with his deputy Milan Bojović and his operative teams from the sector of emergency response. Delegates of related public companies, including EPS and Putevi Srbije, also participated in the meeting. Besides the usual familiarization with the project objectives and practical aspects of the undertaken field work, advisory role of BEWARE teams was emphasized. Accordingly, the greatest attention during the field work was drawn to the locations already prioritized by the local authorities. During the operative work, apart from the members of the local authority, a great deal of support in logistics and information was provided by the community representatives. Valuable source of information was also well organized archive of historical landslides led by the city authorities, kept from 2006 (when a similar magnitude of landslidng occurred) onward.
All the landslides that have occurred within the territory of the municipality, that were activated or reactivated during heavy rains last and this year were recorded, all within completion of unified landslides database according to the project activities. Logistic support during field activities was provided by inspector from the Department for Emergency Situations, Branislav Sarić.
During the fieldwork our team has registered all reported landslides (25 landslides in total). We have visited the following locations at the territory of the municipality of Ub: Ub center, Vrhovine, Gornji Trnavci, Zvizdar, Gvozdenovac, Dokmir, Kršna glava, Vrhovine, Slatina, Čučuge, Donji Kras, Novaci and Tulari.
